» October 4, 1991: Trailing 3–2 in the 9th, Cleveland's Jim Thome hits a two-out, two-run homer, his first in the majors, to give the Tribe the lead over the Yankees. Steve Olin pitches the 9th to save the win for reliever Eric Bell. With four wins over the past month, Bell (4-0) ends the year with the most wins for an undefeated pitcher on a team losing a hundred games (as noted by Greg Crouse).
» September 13, 1992: Cleveland's Kenny Lofton steals his 53rd and 54th bases breaking the American League rookie record of 53 set by Donie Bush in 1909. Lofton will swipe a league-high 66 bases, 12 ahead of another rookie Pat Listach, and lead AL center fielders with 14 assists. He scores both runs today, including the winner in the 9th, to beat the White Sox, 2–1. Eric Plunk is the winner with Steve Olin picking up his 25th save.
» March 22, 1993: Cleveland pitchers Steve Olin and Tim Crews are killed, and Bob Ojeda is seriously injured, when the motorboat in which they are riding strikes a pier on Little Lake Nellie in Florida. Crews and Olin are the first active major leaguers to die since Thurman Munson in 1979.
» August 7, 1993: Indian P Bob Ojeda returns to action following the spring training accident which took the lives of teammates Steve Olin and Tim Crews. He hurls two innings in the Orioles 8-6 win over Cleveland.
