Olin financed his engineering education at Cornell by playing ball, including a brief
ML career in three different leagues. He went on to become one of America's industrial
giants as founder and head of what today is the Olin Corporation.

»August 23rd, 1884: After 9 losses, Toledo (AA) defeats Louisville for the first time, as Tony Mullane outduels Ren Deagle for a 1-0 two-hit victory. Deagle allows only 3 hits himself, but one is to engineering student Frank Olin, whose single drives Mullane home from 2B. Following his brief ML career, Olin will go on to found what is today the giant Olin Corporation.
