FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» August 23, 1998: Giants OF Barry Bonds hits his 26th homer, and 400th career home run, off Kirt Ojala of the Marlins in the Giants' 10–5 victory. He thus becomes the 1st player in major league history with more than 400 career home runs and 400 career steals.

» September 16, 1998: Montreal scores two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to defeat Florida, 3–2. Rookie P Kirt Ojala, who went the distance for the Marlins, ties a major league record by striking out four Expos in the 4th inning. Ojala fans Fernando Seguignol, Vladimir Guerrero, Shane Andrews, and Brad Fullmer to become the 12th hurler in major league history to fan four batters consecutively. Guerrero reached base on a 3rd–strike passed ball.
