Oelkers was the Twins' number-one pick in the June 1982 draft, chosen before Dwight Gooden. Though he threw hard, his fastball had no movement, and he was pounded in a 1983 trial with Minnesota (0-5, 8.65). He lasted one season after his 1986 trade to Cleveland. (JCA)
