It is only the 3rd time in minor league history that two players from the same team have homered in the same inning. » August 22, 2000: The Phillies defeat the Reds, 5-4, despite a grand slam by Cincinnati OF Alex Ochoa. Ochoa's blast is the 142nd slam of the season, setting a new major league record. The Oakland A's have hit 11, one shy of the record shared by the Braves (1997) and Indians (1999).
» June 28, 2001: The Reds defeat the Cubs, 5-2, as OF Alex Ochoa gets five hits, including a home run, for Cincinnati. OF Dmitri Young adds four hits.
» July 19, 2001:
The Rockies obtain IF Alex Ochoa from the Reds for 2B Todd Walker and minor league OF Robin Jennings. The Reds also call up top OF prospect Adam Dunn, who hit 32 homers in the minors this year. Dunn will clout 19 homers for the Reds including 12 in August, setting the NL rookie record for most home run in any month, with 12. The old mark of 11 was set by Frank Robinson, in August 1956. The only other rookies to hit more home run in a month were Rudy York (18--August 1937), Mark McGwire (May 1987) and Jimmie Hall (13--August 1963).
» January 21, 2002: In a complicated three–team deal, the Colorado Rockies trade Alex Ochoa and two prospects to the Mets for veterans Benny Agbayani and Todd Zeile. The Rocks will pay $2 mil of Zeile's $6 million contract, while the Mets agree to pay $3.25 million of it, plus a $500,000 buyout payment on the contract. The Mets receive minor leaguers Ross Gload and Craig House from Colorado. The 3rd team in the deal, the Brewers, pay $250,000 of it. The Brewers then send slugger Jeremy Burnitz, starter Jeff D'Amico, INF Lou Collier, and two prospects to the Mets. New York ships pinchhitter/IF Lenny Harris, P Glendon Rusch, and Ochoa to Milwaukee. The Mets have now replaced half of their 2001 roster.
