Forkballer Niemann pitched 14 years of pro ball, but never spent a full season in the majors. He signed with the Yankees in 1975 and retired in 1988 to become a Mets minor league coach. He threw shutouts for two of his first three ML wins, with Houston in 1979. Elbow surgery in 1981 damaged his chances. He pitched for the 1986 World Champion Mets, but did not appear in postseason play. (EW)
