Rookie Elmer Myers makes a spectacular debut with the A's by striking out 12 Washington batters, while allowing just two hits. Myers walks five in the 4–0 win, his only game this year. Elmer will go 14-23 in 1916, but strike out an impressive 182 batters in his rookie season. » March 1, 1919: Connie Mack makes one of his biggest player mistakes, trading 3B Larry Gardner, OF Charlie Jamieson, and P Elmer Myers to Cleveland for OF Bobby "Braggo" Roth. Vet writer Ernest Lanigan predicts that Roth will lead the circuit in homers at Shibe, but Roth will be shipped on to Boston by midseason. Gardner will put in six more .300 years, and Jamieson will be a top leadoff man and .303 hitter for the next 14 years.

After PH Joe Harris triples with three on base to give Cleveland a 7-3 lead in the last of the eighth,
reliever Elmer Myers gives up a run, then loads the bases on walks. In comes little-used lefty Fritz Coumbe. Up steps Babe Ruth who hit his second HR of the day for an 8-7 Red Sox win. Out goes Indians' manager Lee Fohl, fired for the move. In comes CF Tris Speaker to manage the Tribe. He will bring them home in second place and stay as skipper for seven years.
» August 19, 1921: In game two at Boston, Ty Cobb gets hit No. 3,000, off Boston P Elmer Myers. At 34, he's the youngest ever to do so. Ty has three of the 19 hits that Myers allows. Cole gives up four to win 10–0. Boston takes the opener, 13–8, as Cobb collects three hits.
