Books and articles about George Munger

Munger reached St. Louis during the WWII player shortage in 1943 and went 9-5 as a rookie and 11-3 (1.34) as a sophomore before entering the military in mid-1944. He returned to beat the Red Sox 12-3 in Game Four of the 1946 WS, backed by the Cardinals' Series record-tying 20 hits. He was 16-5 with six shutouts in 1947 and 15-8 in 1949 before arm problems reduced his effectiveness. (MC)
