Moran failed in his first trial, hitting .226 in 115 games for the Indians in 1958.
Catching on with the expansion Angels, he won the second base job in 1962, leading
AL second basemen in assists and total chances per game while reaching career highs
with 17 HR, 74 RBI, 90 runs, and a .282 average. He had another strong season in
1963, leading AL second basemen in putouts, assists, and total chances per game (and
errors), but fell off a bit offensively (7 HR, 65 RBI, 67 runs). He was traded to
Cleveland next June when he had hit no HR, and spent the rest of his career as a
utility man.
