Despite throwing a no-hitter for Syracuse (on July 25, 1937, against Jersey City, a 1-0 win in nine innings) and leading the International League in strikeouts, Moore came up to the Reds as an unheralded rookie. He went 13-12 at his best for Cincinnati's 1939 pennant winners. (NLM)

» September 16, 1940: Called up from the Eastern League in August, Phillies rookie Danny Litwhiler singles in both games of 7-1 and 3­2 losses to St. Louis, extending his hitting streak to 21 straight games. He will be stopped tomorrow by Whitey Moore at Cincinnati. He will hit .345 in 36 games.
