Casey Stengel once said, "That Moore was one of the best shortstops that will ever live!" A superb fielder with outstanding range and a rifle-like arm, Moore joined the Negro League Kansas City Monarchs from the legendary 25th Infantry Wreckers Army team. In his six years with the Monarchs, he batted a cumulative .359 and helped them to three pennants (1923-25). He batted .300 in the 1924 Black World Series and .364 in the 1925 BWS. His brief career was ended in 1926 when he was injured in an accidental shooting. (LL)
