Monzant was a curveballer who seemed unable to decide whether to pitch for the Giants
or stay home in Venezuela. He was consistently late in reporting, claiming a variety
of excuses, and finally sat out the entire 1959 season. After a comeback attempt
in 1960, he retired for good.
