Mitchell starred in the Baltimore system and beat Oakland's Vida Blue, 3-2, for his first ML win in 1975. That winter, he was traded to the A's with Don Baylor and Mike Torrez for Reggie Jackson and Ken Holtzman. Mitchell went 9-7 in 1976, was waived to Seattle in 1977, and was the best starter for the last-place 1978 Mariners, going 8-14. (JCA)
