The 5'8" 155-lb Mitchell, a light-hitting switch-hitter, was the starting shortstop for the Red Sox in 1923 and the Dodgers in 1925, though he hit his career-high .263 in 1924. He was part of the July 1922 trade that brought Joe Dugan to New York. (JM)
