Meyer won the Midwestern League Triple Crown in his first pro season, one of two 30-HR, 100-RBI seasons he had in the minors. The 6'3" 260-lb Hawaiian struck out 88 times in 327 at-bats in his first ML season. On September 20, 1988 he tied the ML record by striking out five times in a nine-inning game. After limited playing time in 1989, he signed with Japan's Taiyo Whales. (SFS)
