Mesner signed a contract at age 16 in 1934, and the next year hit .331 for Los Angeles (Pacific Coast League). He served as Cincinnati's third baseman during WWII, never batting higher than .272. He led NL third basemen in errors in 1943 and 1945 and in assists in 1945. (NLM)
