» August 20, 1995: Cleveland P Jose Mesa records his 37th save in 37 opportunities to set a major league mark. The Tribe defeats the Brewers, 8-5. Mesa's streak will be stopped at 38 on August 25.

» October 17, 1995: The Indians shut out Seattle, 4-0, behind the pitching of Dennis Martinez, Julian Tavarez, and Jose Mesa, to clinch the AL pennant.

» October 24, 1995: An 11th-inning single by Eddie Murray gives the Indians a 7-6 win in Game 3 of the WS. Jose Mesa notches the victory with 3 shutout innings of relief. Fred McGriff and Ryan Klesko homer for Atlanta.

» April 9, 1997: Cleveland P Jose Mesa is found innocent of rape, gross sexual imposition and theft charges stemming from an earlier incident. He'll get a standing O when he appears in the home opener in two days.

» October 12, 1997: The Indians again score the winning run in their last at bat, coming back from a 4-2 deficit to defeat the Orioles, 8-7, for their 3rd straight win in the ALCS. Sandy Alomar drives home the winner with a single after hitting a 2-run homer earlier in the contest. He also scores from 2B on a wild pitch in the 5th. Brady Anderson, Harold Baines, Rafael Palmeiro hit homers off Jaret Wright in the 5th while Manny Ramirez goes deep for the Tribe. Jose Mesa blows his 2nd save in two days, but receives credit for the win.

» July 23, 1998: Following the Giants 2–11 mark since the All–Star break, San Francisco picks up Joe Carter from Baltimore and Jose Mesa, Al Morman, and Shawon Dunston from the Indians. The Giants send Steve Reed (1.48 ERA in 50 appearances) and minor leaguer Jacob Cruz to Cleveland, and Darin Blood to Baltimore. The Giants receive cash in both swaps.

» November 12, 1998: The Mariners sign free agent P Jose Mesa to a 2-year contract.

» May 28, 2000: The Devil Rays sink the Mariners, 14-4, scoring a team-record 11 runs in the 8th inning. Jose Mesa gives up nine runs in the inning and then is tossed for pitching too close to Mike DiFelice his 2nd time up. His 1st time up he homered.

» November 17, 2000: The Phillies sign free agent P Jose Mesa to a 2-year contract worth $3.4 million.

» April 25, 2001: Rickey Henderson's 9th-inning walk from Philadelphia's Jose Mesa is the 2,063rd of his career and breaks Babe Ruth's all-time record. The Phillies defeat the Padres, 5-3.
