» June 6, 1990: A week after the Mets fire their manager, the Yankees follow suit. Bucky Dent, the Yanks' skipper for just 89 games, is replaced by Stump Merrill, who managed the Columbus farm team.

» September 28, 1991: In a 5–4 loss to the Indians, Yankees manager Stump Merrill goes to the bullpen for the 75th straight time, surpassing the record set by the 1977 Padres. Reliever Greg Cadaret takes the loss.

» October 7, 1991: Manager Stump Merrill is fired by the Yankees.
