In Florida's 7-2 victory over Colorado, Marlins' relief P Terry Mathews gets the win, and goes 3-for-3 at the plate, with two doubles, two ribbies, and a run scored. STATS Inc. reports that no relief hurler has had three hits in a game over the past nine years, since it has tracked baseball performances.
»June 25, 1995: Florida P David Weathers loses a chance at a no-hitter when he is hit on his pitching hand by a Tim Pugh fastball and has to leave the game against the Reds. He had held Cincinnati hitless over the 1st five innings. Terry Mathews replaces him and allows three hits in preserving the Marlins' 5-1 win.
