A
sharp-breaking curve and above-average fastball earned Martin a spot in the Royals'
bullpen in 1979. He was 10-10 in 1980, when he started 20 games. Not a strikeout
pitcher, he relied on keeping the ball low and nibbling at the corners. Traded to
the Giants in 1982, he failed to become a regular starter.
