A power-hitting catcher in the minors, Macha became a defensive swinger as a ML reserve. He regained his punch playing in Japan, hitting 82 HR for the Chunichi Dragons from 1982 through 1985, with a high of 31 in 1984. His brother Mike played briefly for the Braves and Blue Jays in 1979-80. (MC)
