» September 3, 1989: It is 100 degrees in Texas and the Royals and Rangers are equally hot as seven batters get hit by pitches, the 3rd time this century this has happened, as notes historian Joe Dittmar. The Royals put the game out of reach with a 3-run homer by Bo Jackson in the 7th to win, 13–2. When Mike MacFarlane is plunked in the 8th, the 5th Royal hit, he rushes the mound and tackles reliever Craig McMurtry.

» September 29, 1992: Royals P Dennis Rasmussen (4–0) hurls a one-hit, 2–0 shutout over the Angels. Damion Easley's leadoff single in the 4th inning is the only California hit. Bert Blyleven takes the loss, serving up a 2-run gopher to Mike MacFarlane.

» September 13, 1993: Royals C Mike Macfarlane twice is charged with throwing errors to 1st base following strikeouts in Kansas City's 9-0 win over Chicago.

» August 26, 1995: The Athletics defeat the Red Sox by a score of 11-4. All Boston's runs score on C Mike Macfarlane's grand slam. It is the 101st grand slam hit in the majors this season, breaking the record set in 1987.

» April 8, 1998: The Athletics trade OF Shane Mack and a player to be named to the Royals in exchange for C Mike Macfarlane and cash.

» December 16, 1998: The Athletics sign free agent C Mike Macfarlane.
