A full-blooded Lumbee from North Carolina, the lefthanded Locklear had 150 pinch-hit at-bats in 292 ML appearances. Locklear had a .321 batting average for the Padres in 1975, his only 100-game season. After a .240 season for the Nippon Ham Fighters of Japan in 1978, he retired to pursue a career as an artist.
