» November 27, 1951: The Browns send C Sherm Lollar, P Al Widmar, and infielder Tommy Upton to the White Sox for C Gus Niarhos, P Dick Littlefield, 1B Gordy Goldsberry, Joe DeMaestri, and OF Jim Rivera. Rivera, a favorite of Browns manager Hornsby, will return to the Sox in eight months.

» May 17, 1956: Pittsburgh continues swapping by sending OF Bobby Del Greco and P Dick Littlefield to St. Louis for OF Bill Virdon. Virdon, the 1955 Rookie of the Year, was hitting just .211 for the Cards when GM Frank Lane unloads him. Virdon will hit .334 the rest of the year for Pittsburgh.

The Cards trade future Hall of Famer 2B Red Schoendienst, C Bill Sarni and P Dick Littlefield to the Giants for SS Alvin Dark, OF Whitey Lockman, C Ray Katt and P Don Liddle.
» December 13, 1956: The Dodgers trade Jackie Robinson to the Giants for P Dick Littlefield and $35,000. Robinson retires rather than accept the trade.
