Leon began pitching professionally in his native Mexico, joining the Braves organization in 1973 after a 17-7 season at Jalisco. A starter in Mexico, he was used mainly in long relief once he reached the majors. After suffering arm trouble, he returned to Mexico and again became a consistent winner, including an 18-2 record in 1983-84. (MC)
