football player, Lee refused numerous scholarship offers to sign
with the Cardinals for an estimated $50,000. His only good year came with the Padres
in 1972 when he batted .300 in 101 games, only the second Padre ever to hit that
mark.

Seaver strikes out 11. The Pads take the nitecap, 4–2, as Nate Colbert hits his 16th homer.
» June 28, 1974: At Cleveland, Indians OF Leron Lee crashes into Boston C Carlton Fisk, knocking him out of the game. Fisk's left knee injury is so serious he will not return to action this year, and, with a broken arm sustained in next year's spring training, will not play until June 1975. |
