The Yankees defeat the Red Sox, 9-2, to take a 3-games-to-1 lead in the ALCS. Andy Pettitte gets the victory for NY, with home run support from Darryl Strawberry and Ricky Ledee.
» June 29, 2000:
In a prescient move, the Yankees obtain OF David Justice from the Indians for OF Ricky Ledee and two players to be named. When Shane Spencer goes down in 10 days, Justice will take over LF. The trade occurs minutes before the start of the game against Detroit, an 8–0 Yankee win, and Ledee is scratched from the lineup. The Yanks tie a major-league record with three sac flies in one inning.
» July 28, 2000:
The Indians keep trading, bringing back OF Wil Cordero from the Pirates for talented prospects IF Enrique Wilson and OF Alex Ramirez. The Tribe had declined to resign Cordero after last season and he upped with the Bucs for three years. Then they pick up slick-fielding 1B David Segui from the Rangers for OF Ricky Ledee.
» January 30, 2002: The Phillies sign free agent OF Ricky Ledee to a 1-year contract.
