A dependable regular, Cookie Lavagetto's moment of fame came in Game Four of the 1947 World Series. Yankee pitcher Bill Bevens had walked two batters in the ninth inning but was one out away from a no-hitter when Lavagetto pinch hit a game-winning double off the right-field wall, beating Bevens 2-1.
