Landrum bounced around for a decade before catching fire with the Pirates in 1989. Picked up in desperation to replace injured bullpen stopper Jim Gott, Landrum had a 0.21 ERA in his first 28 appearances. He finished the year with 26 saves and a 1.67 ERA.
