LaRoche gained notoriety for his blooper pitch, called the LaLob. Almost exclusively
a reliever (he lost all six decisions in his 15 career starts), he saved 126 games
lifetime. His best season was 1978, when he saved 25 while going 10-9 with a 2.81
ERA for the Angels. He had five other seasons in double figures in saves.
