A bull-like man who prided himself on his strength, LaChance belied his nickname with a sour disposition. He once challenged Rube Waddell to a wrestling match before a game. After an hour, Waddell pinned him, then went out and pitched a shutout while LaChance recuperated on the bench. (JK)
