A 6'5" basketball player at Portland (Oregon) University, Krueger did not begin pitching until his junior year. He joined the A's rotation in 1983 and was 6-5 on June 25 when he strained a forearm muscle; scouts said he lost his best stuff with the injury. Traded to the Dodgers in 1987, he threw a seven-inning no-hitter for Triple-A Albuquerque against Phoenix that August 14. Krueger bounced from the Dodgers to the Brewers, Mariners, Twins, Expos, Tigers, and Padres over the next eight seasons, pitching both as a starter and out of the pen. (JCA)

Minnesota sends pitcher Bill Krueger to Montreal for Darren Reid. It is the third season that Krueger has split between the AL and the NL: only Sal Maglie has done it more often.
