After steadily progressing through the Arizona Diamondbacks minor-league system, Koplove brought his good control and low ERA to the majors as a September call-up in 2001. In just over 10 innings of work he allowed four earned runs, though he was impressive with 3 1/3 shutout innings against the San Diego Padres in his major-league debut on September 6, 2001. (EPW)
