Greg Myers and Paul Molitor each drives in five runs as Minnesota scores against all seven Tiger pitchers they face. The 35 runs is the most today as major league teams total 195 runs, the most this century. The average game total of 13.9 runs tops the record of 13.6 set on July 12, 1931.

The Twins whitewash the Tigers, 4-0, as manager Tom Kelly gets his 1,000th career win. He is the 46th skipper to reach the milestone.
» July 27, 2000: The Blue Jays sink the Mariners, 7-2, giving Toronto manager Jim Fregosi his 1,000th win as a big league skipper. He joins Tom Kelly, who earlier this year won his 1,000th game.
