A strong, 6'1" 190-lb Dominican, Joseph was mostly a Phillies fill-in. When the team,
beset by injuries, won nine in a row in mid-1969, Joseph batted .368 with 12 RBI.
That year, he hit safely in 16 straight games. Joseph died at age 39 of a kidney
ailment.
