A 6'2" offensive player who hit for power and average, as he ballooned to 232-lb Johnson's speed, fielding, and numbers suffered. He batted .309 for the 1979 White Sox, including a 19-game hitting streak. A choir singer, in 1977 he sang "The Star Spangled Banner" before a Chicago game, then had two homers and a double, the White Sox' only hits in their 2-1 victory. (EW)
