» May 2, 1954: Chicago's Connie Johnson tosses a 2-hitter at the A's to win, 4–0, before losing to the A's, 2–1. Elmer Valo's pinch single in the 9th wins the nitecap for reliever Marion Fricano.

» May 12, 1954: Tom Brewer of the Red Sox loses a 1–0 three-hitter to the White Sox when he walks four in the first. Connie Johnson wins with a 2-hitter, the 2nd Sox 2-hitter in 10 days.

» May 21, 1956: The White Sox send 3B George Kell, OF Bob Nieman, and pitchers Mike Fornieles and Connie Johnson to the Orioles for P Jim Wilson and OF Dave Philley. Kell will play solid 3B until Brooks Robinson is ready, while Johnson will lead the Birds' starters in wins in 1957.
