Johnson was 4-9, 3.08 with the Red Sox, earning $400 a month in his rookie 1914 season, when he was traded to the Indians. He jumped to the Chicago Whales of the Federal League and went 9-5, 1.58 the rest of the way to lead the FL in ERA. It was his only successful season. His son Adam Jr. pitched briefly for the 1941 Athletics. (NLM)
