Minutes before the postseason rosters must be filed, the Cubs obtain 3B Luis Salazar and OF Marvell Wynne from San Diego in exchange for P Calvin Schiraldi, OF Darrin Jackson and 1B Phil Stephenson. Salazar will play a key role in the Cubs' title run, while of the three new Pad people, only Jackson will perform decently.
»March 30, 1993: The Padres trade OF Darrin Jackson to the Blue Jays in exchange for outfielders Derek Bell and Stoney Briggs.
»May 17, 1997:
At the Metrodome, Darrin Jackson, hits a grand slam and drives in a six runs to lead Minnesota to an 11–5 win over the Red Sox. Jackson, who played the last two seasons in Japan, was brought up from Triple-A earlier in the day. The Red Sox have lost seven straight and 11 of 12.
