A graduate of Rutgers, Izenberg joined the Newark Star-Ledger in 1963 and is a columnist for the Newhouse syndicate. He has published several collections of columns and essays and has written and produced over 30 television shows, including documentaries on manager Johnny Keane, the New York Mets, and Roberto Clemente.
