Noted for his "side-saddle" delivery, reliever Humphreys joined the pennant-winning Cardinals in 1964 in time to contribute two wins and two saves down the stretch. The next year, he was part of an unusual Cubs staff that also included submariner Ted Abernathy and sidearmer Bill Faul. He pitched well for the Senators in the late 1960s but made frequent brief trips to the minors to correct his mechanics. (MC)
