Jim Honochick

All-Star in 195

Books and articles about Jim Honochick

A sore arm caused Honochick to turn from being a minor league outfielder to umpiring in 1946. The highlight of his 25 ML seasons, he claims, was working behind the plate in the Seventh Game of the 1955 WS when Brooklyn's Johnny Podres beat the Yankees, 2-0. Honochick gained fame in the 1980s for his myopic self-portrayal in a Miller Lite beer commercial with Boog Powell. (RTM)
