FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» May 3, 1996: Ranger P Ken Hill gives up a 1st-inning infield single to Bobby Higginson, then retires 26 straight batters as Texas batters Detroit, 11–0. It is the 2nd one-hitter of his career. Texas is led by Juan Gonzalez, who knocks in four runs.

» June 25, 1996: In Detroit, the A's outslug the Tigers, 12–8. Bobby Higginson and Jason Giambi each drive in five runs while Cecil Fielder and Mark McGwire match homers. For McGwire, it is #300.

» April 5, 1997: Brian Hunter has four hits and three stolen bases as Detroit outlasts the White Sox, 15–12. Bobby Higginson and Damion Easley each hit 3-run home runs. The Sox Chris Snopek, filling in at 3B for Robin Ventura, out with a broken ankle, has three hits but makes his 3rd E in four games.

» June 30, 1997: Bobby Higginson belts three home runs and drives in seven runs and Justin Thompson allows four hits in eight innings as Detroit kicks the Mets, 14–0. It is the most lopsided shutout in Mets history. Detroit hits more homers (6) than the Mets have hits (5), and it is the most home runs given up by Mets' pitchers since April 29, 1978.

» July 6, 1997: In Detroit, the Tigers top the Orioles, 14–9, their 3rd straight win after 11 consecutive losses. Brian Johnson and Travis Fryman homer for the Tigers while teammate Bobby Higginson adds a two-run inside-the-park homer, his fifth round tripper this week. For Scott Erickson (11-4) it is the worst start of his career for Baltimore, allowing all 12 runs, 11 earned, and 10 hits in four 1-3 innings. Willie Blair (6-4) takes the win in relief. The O's are led by Rafael Palmeiro's homer, triple and single and homers by Geronimo Berroa, Jeff Reboulet and Tony Tarasco.

» August 22, 1997: The Tigers pound the Brewers, 16-1, with the aid of 23 hits and an 11-run 7th inning. Bobby Higginson gets five hits for Detroit, while Travis Fryman and Tony Clark drive in four runs apiece.

» September 27, 1998: Blue Jays rookie P Roy Halladay throws 8.2 innings of no-hit ball against the Tigers before PH Bobby Higginson hits Halladay’s first pitch for a solo HR. Toronto wins the game, 2-1.

» June 13, 2000: The Tigers defeat the Blue Jays, 16-3. Bobby Higginson drives home seven runs for Detroit on two singles and two home runs.

» June 24, 2000: The Tigers trim the Indians, 14-8, in the second game of a day-night doubleheader behind OF Bobby Higginson's three home runs and six RBIs. The Indians took the first game by a score of 8-1.

» October 5, 2001: In only the 2nd doubleheader ever played at the SkyDome (the first was 1989), the Blue Jays sweep the Indians, 5–0 and 4–3 in 11 innings. Jose Cruz Jr. leads the offense by stealing three bases and hitting a homer in his 6th straight game—a club record: he joins the 30-30 club. Roy "Doc" Halladay flirts with a no-hitter before Travis Fryman singles with two out in the 8th. Wil Cordero added a single in the 9th. Halladay lost a no-hitter in 1999 when he gave up a 2-out 9th inning home run to Bobby Higginson in his first ML win. Halladay had been sent all the way to single A Florida State league earlier in the year, following his 10.64 ERA in 2000, the worst in ML history.
