» September 2, 1991: Three months after an operation that replaced a vein in his arm with one from his leg, White Sox pitcher Roberto Hernandez holds the Royals hitless for six innings before Bill Pecota leads off the 7th with a double, the only hit Hernandez allows in Chicago's 51 win over KC. In the same game, Bo Jackson makes his miraculous return to the majors following a career-threatening football injury. He hits a sacrifice fly to drive in a run against his former team. Bo will end the year hitting .225 in 23 games, with three homers and 14 RBIs. » September 3, 1991:
Three months after undergoing eight 1/2 hours of surgery to remove two blood clots from his right forearm, White Sox rookie Roberto Hernandez makes his ML debut, limiting the Royals to one hit in seven innings. The Sox win, 51. The other medical story in the game is the return of Bo Jackson, following his hip transplant surgery. Bo is hitless.
» July 9, 1996: The National League defeats the American League, 6-0, in the All-Star Game. Ken Caminiti and Mike Piazza homer for the winners. The game is the first All-Star contest in which no walks are issued by either team. Cal Ripken Jr. starts the game, despite suffering a broken nose when he accidentally catches a forearm from Chicago P Roberto Hernandez. Hernandez slipped on the tarp during the AL team photo shoot.

Playing before 44,249, the largest regular-season crowd at Comiskey Park, the White Sox score early to beat the Cubs, 53. Doug Drabek. with help from Roberto Hernandez in the ninth is the winner. Ex-Cub Dave Martinez hits a two-run homer in the first for the Sox. Chris Snopek adds another.

The San Francisco Giants receive starting pitchers Wilson Alvarez and Danny Darwin, along with top reliever Roberto Hernandez from the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox, just three 1/2 games behind Cleveland in the American League Central, receive minor league SS Mike Caruso, OF Brian Manning, and Ps Lorenzo Barcelo, Keith Foulke, Bob Howry, and Ken Vining. In the house cleaning, the Sox have moved eight players with a combined 92 years of ML experience. Sox 3B Robin Ventura observes, "We didn't realize August first was the end of the season."
» November 18, 1997: The expansion draft for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks is held in Phoenix, Arizona. Florida pitcher Tony Saunders is taken with the 1st pick by the Devil Rays, while the Diamondbacks select pitcher Brian Anderson from Cleveland. Following the draft, the Diamondbacks acquire 3B Travis Fryman from the Tigers in exchange for infielders Joe Randa and Gabe Alvarez and P Matt Drews. They also obtain OF Devon White from the Marlins in exchange for P Jesus Martinez. In a rash of moves, the Devil Rays get 1B Fred McGriff from the Braves in exchange for a player to be named, C John Flaherty from the Padres in exchange for P Brian Boehringer and IF Andy Sheets, SS Kevin Stocker from the Phillies in exchange for Bobby Abreu, and sign free agent P Roberto Hernandez to a 4-year contract.
» April 22, 1999: Tampa Bay defeats Baltimore, 10, as Ps Tony Saunders, Jim Mecir and Roberto Hernandez combine on a 1hitter. SS Mike Bordick's single with two outs in the 8th inning is the only hit Oriole hit.
» May 1, 1999: Detroit hurler Brian Moehler is ejected in the 7th inning for having a piece of sandpaper on his thumb against the Devil Rays. Two batters later, Randy Winn's sacrifice fly gives Tampa Bay the 43 win for Bobby Witt. Moehler will receive a 10-game suspension for his actions. Roberto Hernandez gets the save for the Devil Rays. It is the 200th of his career, making him the 1st Latin pitcher to reach the mark.
» May 23, 1999:
Tampa Bay rookie P Ryan Rupe holds the Angels to one hit in nine innings, but leaves the game in a scoreless tie. Anaheim scores four runs in the 10th off Roberto Hernandez to win the game by a score of 4-0. Chuck Finley hurls nine scoreless frames for Anaheim as Troy Percival gets the win in relief.
» January 8, 2001: In a 3-way deal, the Royals obtain C A.J. Hinch, OF Angel Berroa and cash from the A's, and P Roberto Hernandez from the Devil Rays; the A's receive P Cory Lidle from the Devil Rays, and OF Johnny Damon, IF Mark Ellis, and a player to be named from the Royals; and the Devil Rays receive OF Ben Grieve and a player to be named from the A's.
» May 25, 2002: The Royals defeat the Rangers, 63. Closer Roberto Hernandez gets the save, becoming the 15th pitcher in history to tally 300 saves.
