The Cardinals, down 11-0, rally to defeat the Giants 14-12. All the Redbird scores come in the last three innings, as Solly Hemus ties the game with an eighth-inning HR and adds another in the ninth. The Giants win 3-0 in game 2.
» May 20, 1953: Paced by Red Schoendienst's six RBIs, on a home run, two doubles, and a single, the Cards sink the Pirates 11–6. Solly Hemus scores five runs for the Birds, as Joe Presko beats Bob Friend.
» May 11, 1956: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. The Cards trade pitchers Harvey Haddix, Stu Miller, and Ben Flowers to Philadelphia for P Herm Wehmeier and Murry Dickson.
