» May 11, 1947: In front of 41,660 at Shibe Park—the largest crowd to date to watch a baseball game in Philadelphia—the Phils take two from Brooklyn to take three out of four in the series. The Jays win 7–3 and 5–4. In the first game, the Phils score all their runs in the 3rd and 4th to give knuckler Dutch Leonard his 5th win against a defeat, and his 2nd win in three days against the Bums. Del Ennis's first homer of the year scores 3. Schoolboy Rowe, with relief help from Ken Heintzelman wins the nitecap. He also bangs a homer, and wins his 9th straight over two seasons. Harry Walker raises his average in a Phils uniform to .406 and "closes out the nitecap with one of the most spectacular catches of the season, a catch that would have made the immortal Dode Paskert of 30 years ago doff his hat." » May 18, 1947:
In St. Louis, the Cards drop a pair to Philadelphia, losing 6–3 and 1–0. Ken Raffensberger wins the nitecap for the Blue Jays with a brilliant complete-game shutout. Ken Heintzelman wins the opener for the Phils. Harry Walker is 5-for-10 in the two games, while Emil Verban (.337) knocks in the winning run in the 12th.

The Phillies and Dodgers divide a doubleheader, Brooklyn outslugging the Blue Jays 9–6 in the opener, then losing, 2–0, to Ken Heintzelman. Furillo has a home run, triple and single in the opener, while Duke Snider hits his first two ML homers—the first, inside-the-park—a triple and a single, good for four RBIs. Ben Chapman starts Dutch Leonard but after one out brings in Curt Simmons against the lefty Dodger lineup. In the nitecap, Carl Furillo's 2-out single in the 7th is the first hit off Heintzelman, who pitches a 4-hitter.
» July 9, 1948: At Boston, Johnny Sain becomes the National League's 1st 11-game winner, beating Robin Roberts and the Phils, 13–2. Alvin Dark has three hits running his hit streak to 21 games. In the 4th inning Dark triples off the reliever Ken Heintzelman, then steals home.
» July 16, 1948:
Rookie Granny Hamner drives in seven runs to lead the Phils to an 11–10 squeaker over the Cardinals. Hamner has a pair of doubles and a single to go along with spectacular fielding, starting DPs in the 8th and 9th. Ken Heintzelman, who relieves Blix Donnelly after Stan Musial's grand slam in the 2nd, is the winner.
» August 15, 1948:
In the first of two at Philadelphia, Ken Heintzelman tosses a one-hitter to beat the Giants 8–1. The only hit is Whitey Lockman's 7th inning triple. The Phils take the nitecap, 7–5, as Ed Heusser pitches five innings of relief to win. Larry Jansen and Clint Hartung take the losses.
» August 7, 1951: The Phils shut out the Braves 1–0 in 15 innings in the 2nd game of a doubleheader as reliever Ken Heintzelman bests Warren Spahn, also in relief. The Phils capture the opener, 3–1, on Robin Roberts' 15th win.
» April 19, 1952:
Eddie Mathews of the Boston Braves hits his first
ML HR off Ken Heintzelman of the Phillies in Philadelphia.
The Braves win 4-0.
