After signing a pro hockey contract with the Montreal Canadiens organization, this Quebec native opted to play baseball. Harkness unseated Marv Throneberry as the Mets' first baseman in 1963, only to be replaced shortly thereafter by bonus baby Ed Kranepool. (CR)
