Although he hit a game-winning two-run homer in his first ML game, Haney's weak bat kept him from being more than a reserve catcher throughout his career. With the division- winning A's in 1974, he played in 76 games but hit just .165. Two years later, in his most active season, he batted .226 in 88 games. (MC)
