Bill Haller
1935-WS 4
Haller was "an umpire's umpire," according to fellow ump Dave Phillips. One of
the last to wear an outside chest protector, Haller was assistant supervisor of AL
umpires in 1983-85, but was fired, he believes, because of his refusal to work a
game during the 1984 umpires' strike. His brother Tom was a ML catcher.
