Grieve has spent almost all of his two-plus decades in professional baseball with the Senators-Rangers organization. He played two errorless seasons (1973-74) in the Rangers' outfield in limited duty, and saw his most activity in 1976 as a DH, reaching career highs of 20 HR, 23 doubles, 81 RBI, and 57 runs while batting .255. In December 1977 he went to the Mets in a four-team deal that netted Texas Jon Matlack, and one year later he was dealt to St. Louis for Pete Falcone. The Cardinals released him in May and he finished the season with the Rangers' Triple-A Tucson club, then joined the Texas front-office in 1980. In 1984, at age 36, he became the youngest GM in the ML. (JFC)
